Commonly known as Tabacon, is an iconic and protected plant in Costa Rica. It is a tropical plant, which can be found from Mexico, through Caribbean, all the way to Argentina. It blooms in summer and the flower produces a lovely purple color. It is known as an air-purifier, since its long leaves (sometimes 1m long) are able to oxygenate the area around it! Tabacon does not need a lot of sun, that is why it can be found often under the canopy.
