Known as Coffee, is a small tree native to Africa or tropical Asia. The plant ranks as one of the world’s most valuable and widely traded commodity crops and is an important export product of several countries such as Costa Rica, which exports 90 percent of its coffee, with revenue amounting to about 11 percent of the country’s GDP! There are over 120 species of Coffea, which is grown from seed. The two most popular are Coffea arabica (commonly known simply as “Arabica”), which accounts for 60–80% of the world’s coffee production, and Coffea canephora (known as “Robusta”). The seeds – also called coffee beans – are roasted and often used to create the notorious drink of gods – coffee.
